Ok, the “Drink Package”.
Holland American Line offers a bundled drink option. It is expensive, over $60/per day, and when we first cruised with HAL we figured a need to drink over 12 cocktails a day to break even. Note that it applies to specialty coffee as well.
For this 2022 venture HAL comp’d us both the basic WIFI Internet package and that excessive drink package. Yeah, it capped each guest at 15 drinks per day (none over listed price of $11 which covers most everything). Since Kathy was unable to join us my cap was actually double, or THIRTY cocktails per day.
Needless to say, the package contributes nothing toward a future liver transplant. As well, we had no intention of testing this alcoholic limit. Instead, we enjoyed what amounted to OPEN BAR throughout the ship, frequently in the Crow’s Nest.
Sure, not drinking the allowed extra eleven cocktails per day might be deemed a waste by some, but doing so would deny each of us the ability to remember anything about the cruise. We would have been in a word, “Wasted”.
